Isabelle Trowler, Chief Social Worker for Children and Families (England)

Isabelle Trowler took up her post as the government’s first Chief Social Worker for Children and Families in September 2013.

She is a founder member of the What Works Centre for Children’s Social Care, a member of the National Panel for Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and the National Stability Forum. Isabelle was appointed to the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel in June 2018, she also sits on the ministerial-led Family Justice Board and the Partners in Practice Governance Board.

Since qualifying as a social worker in 1996 from the London School of Economics, Isabelle has held a variety of practice and senior leadership roles within the voluntary, statutory and private sectors, both in education and social care settings.
