This evaluation is part of the pilot phase of the Tiny Tots College programme, which will support care-experienced young parents and expectant parents (up to the age of 25). The programme is split into two interventions: Tiny Tots – Toddlers (post-birth: children aged 0-2) and Tiny Tots – Care-Informed Parents (pre-birth: for expectant parents).
This evaluation plan sets out the pilot evaluation of the Tiny Tots College programme. Developed by Affinity and Unravel, Tiny Tots College seeks to improve attachment and parental knowledge/confidence through play and communication, as well as support expectant parents by providing education on pregnancy and child development, and increasing parents’ skillset when their baby is born. The project aims to inform a model of practice which can be used by other local authorities.
The aim of this research is to undertake a pilot evaluation to provide a more detailed understanding of what the Tiny Tots College intervention looks like, how well it is received, consider ways to improve its delivery and to gauge whether the intervention is ready to be scaled-up.
Data collection will be collected from Tiny Tots College participants as well as staff involved through observations, interviews and surveys. Descriptive analysis of administrative data will also be undertaken.
The evaluation length will be over a period of 8 weeks, from February 2021 – April 2021, with reporting concluded by June 2021.
