Stephen Rice

Practice Development Manager and Principal Social Worker

Stephen Rice has been in children’s social work for 14 years, after being born and raised in New Zealand. Currently Principal Child and Family Social Worker for Islington Council, he has worked across the practice system from initial assessment teams to Court and adoption planning. He has been involved in several large initiatives, including being an early CSW at Hackney Council, being a practice lead at Frontline as it grew from 8 to over 100 employees in 3 years, and currently leading Islington’s Innovation Programme and Partners in Practice Work.

Stephen works part time for the WWC as a Practice Development Manager, supporting with various projects including the practitioners panel and the grassroots movement.

In his spare time he plays Lego with his four year old son whilst teaching him about important things to shout at the television when the All Blacks are playing.
