Since its earliest days, What Works for Children’s Social Care has been working to improve the evidence base in children’s social care to bring about better outcomes for children, young people and families. We do this through creating, collating and translating evidence and engaging with the sector to ensure that our research is answering the questions that are important to them, in a way that is useful.
This report summarises some of our key work and achievements since the establishment of our permanent team in January 2019, including
- 38 randomised controlled trials
- 19 pilots
- 127 local authorities participating in a research project
- 1.15 million children involved
- 1,330 social workers on our polling panel
