Practice

Working with practice is at the heart of what we do.

What Works for Children’s Social Care (WWCSC) and the Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) merged in December 2022 and are now Foundations, the What Works Centre for Children & Families. You can visit our new website here

This website will remain live for now but is not being updated. Here you can find research and work we carried out as WWCSC before the new organisation was formally launched in June 2023.

Working with practice is at the heart of what we do.

  • We have engaged with 132 local authorities
  • 86 local authorities are working in partnership with us

We are committed to listening to what the sector wants and needs, and to working in partnership to find out what works.

From the start of the organisations’s development, we have engaged with our key stakeholders in a number of ways including practitioner events, visits to local authorities and consultative panels.

We have heard important messages about how evidence is currently being used and what opportunities there are to build a stronger evidence base. We have formed partnerships with many local authorities to conduct primary research in children’s social care so we can find out together how evidence can improve outcomes for children and families.

We are proud to be working with so many partners in the social care sector on a variety of projects.
